In our Wednesday Bible Study, the focus has been on Evangelism. This week, our assignment was to read a pamplet from Discipler Training International. As we reviewed and discussed the assignment ,which had to do with a discipleship model that balanced Corporate and Personal Discipleship, it sparked a lively discussion that spread to topics such as how a new Christian matures, what the role of the Church should be when it comes to missions, and what our heart and thought process should include as we reach out to unbelievers and new Christians. We will try to capture the themes of the discussion in the blog posts under this topic.

Jeremiah 1:10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Salvation is a miracle. One day you are lost , the next day , a citizen in the kingdom. I think of how I came in. I had a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do and habits to break. As much as we want it to, things just don't fall off when you give your life, when you make Him Lord. I still had so much to deal with , addictions that needed to be broken, new habits to form, and a mind that needed to be changed. Our Pastors have said, that we get saved every day, as we decide to keep yeilding to growth and the discipline of the Lord .

As we talked on Wednesday, we got to encourage one of the saints who was watching over the new salvation of another. There seemed to be a bit of discouragement, as there was an understanding that "this one" had a long way to go.

Glove Ministry

In Our Bible Study on Wednesday, we were also discussing ways to share our faith and ways to make an impact into the lives and hearts of people that we encounter. Tawana mentioned that as she was travelling to The Healer's House to church on the bus last winter that she noticed many people out in the freezing cold weather without gloves. She suggested a glove ministry where had people a pair of gloves in the name of Jesus and witness to them or maybe give them a tract or other information.

Phyllis also mentioned the earmuff ministry to do the same thing.

We noted that this is not just good works for the sake of doing good works, but the primary motive is to express the love of God in Jesus Christ, so we do it as a witnessing tool

We put this on the calendar for September to remember to plan for this and other outreach activities during the winter.
